Stacey Nikaido was born and raised on Maui. Around 10 years ago, she started attending obon festivals in honor of her grandmother’s passing. She took Japanese minyo dance for about 9 years with Nakayama Minyo Kai until 2012 when Sensei Ken Tasaka formed Maui Minyo Kai. At the obon festivals you can see her, her boyfriend and their son dancing. During the off-season she helps with the Mini Odori that meets once a month to practice all the bon dances.
