50 years ago…

The decline in traditional Japanese values, culture and heritage sparked a group of Nisei (second generation Japanese) to form the Japanese Cultural Society of Maui to perpetuate their heritage and help educate the sansei (third generation Japanese) and yonsei (fourth generation Japanese) generation.

2019 marks JCSM’s 50th anniversary.

Mission
The mission of the Japanese Cultural Society of Maui is to:

• Promote and encourage the preservation and perpetuation of Japanese Culture in Hawaii;

• To promote and cultivate good fellowship among members; and

• To participate in activities this would enhance and enrich the life of the community.

Membership is valid for one year with the following dues:

  • $20 – General Membership (Primary)
  • $15 – Spouse
  • $10 – 60 years old and up
  • $10 – 18 years old and below
