KAHULUI, Hawaii - Comedian KT Tatara will headline the 50th anniversary gala of the Japanese Cultural Society of Maui on Sept. 29, 2019 at the Waikapu Ballroom of the King Kamehameha Golf Course.
KT Tatara has been charming audiences with his extraordinary blend of wit and likeability for more than 15 years. In addition to his regular stand-up comedy show, KT is able to draw from his Japanese and Caucasian heritage to deliver a uniquely insightful and uplifting performance tailored for diversity-focused events.
His numerous television appearances include NBC’s “Last Comic Standing,” Comedy Central’s “Live at Gotham,” FOX’s “Lethal Weapon” and CBS’s “How I Met Your Mother.” He has also performed numerous times at the prestigious Just For Laughs festival.
The JCSM 50th anniversary gala is a benefit dinner which will raise funds for the restoration of the iconic tea house in the Japanese Garden at the Kepaniwai Park in Iao Valley, and if funds permit, the rehabilitation of the fence and koi pond.
The gala will also honor 96-year-old Yukie Ueoka, the last living founding board member of JCSM, who helped establish the organization in 1969 and envisioned the community’s great enrichment in the promotion, preservation, and perpetuation of the Japanese culture.
