Oshougatsu Mochi Pounding
4 p.m. - 8 p.m.
Our annual mochi pounding event this year is co-presented by Peace Boat Japan and PBV. It will be an opportunity for JCSM to launch its recovery program called Ganbare Maui - our response to the devastating wildfires that caused tremendous loss to our community in August.
We have increased the capacity of the event this year and we will welcome displaced Lahaina families affected by the fires. If you or someone you know have been affected by the fires, register here: bit.ly/mauimochi.
Attendance will give you access to pound some mochi, eat some mochi and a dinner bento, and celebrate the new year with the Fukumoto's famous ozoni. This year, we want to share with you Ganbare Maui and our fundraising so far, as we continue to help Lahaina and Upcountry with recovery.
